The Project

The RAAF Richmond Air Base has evolved from a former combat centre into a major housing facility for the RAAF fleet of aircraft.

One of the many aircrafts fleets to be housed here is the RAAFs C130 Hercules – a tactical and multirole transport aircraft providing strategic air support to the Australian Defence Force (ADF) throughout the world, used for search and survivor assistance, aero-medical evacuation and aid to Australian and neighboring civil communities.

UFS designed, manufactured and installated a highly advanced TFS structure providing the ultimate aircraft hangar, specifically designed to accommodate the requirements and growing needs of the C130 Hercules aircraft fleet.

With a clear span of 48m and a peak height of 16m the TFS incorporated many extra inclusions to assist the operations crews with their day-to-day servicing and maintenance programs. The project was deployed, manufactured and delivered within 8 weeks of the initial order a testament to UFS’s
ability to deliver a quality solution on budget and in
record time!
